Police in Handwara have successfully solved a handbag snatching case by arresting the suspect and recovering the stolen gold ornaments from his possession.
On April 15, a woman from Waghat Palpora, Magam reported that while shopping in the Handwara market, she was followed by an unknown individual who later snatched her handbag near the New Bus Stand. The bag contained valuable gold ornaments.
A case was registered, and during the investigation, police focused on a suspect. The individual, identified as Basit Fayaz Tantray, a resident of Khonbal Handwara, confessed to his involvement in the theft.
Following his confession, police recovered the stolen gold ornaments from Tantray’s possession. He has been taken into custody, and the investigation continues.
