SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) – A 66-year-old Scottsboro man is behind bars after police executed a drug bust on Tuesday that uncovered a variety of illegal substances and a firearm.
Barry Dean Kennamer was arrested at his residence in the 1600 block of County Road 30. His charges include drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana (2nd degree), possession of drug paraphernalia, and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.
The search warrant was obtained after a previous arrest revealed that methamphetamine found on a suspect was sourced from Kennamer’s address, prompting an investigation by Scottsboro Police Department’s Detective Division.
Upon executing the search warrant, police discovered:
Marijuana
Suboxone
Drug paraphernalia
A firearm
5.97 grams of a methamphetamine/fentanyl mixture
Scottsboro Police Chief Greg Godfrey issued a stern warning:
“Let this serve as a warning to anyone engaging in illegal drug activity: you will be found, you will be arrested, and you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Kennamer is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
