Madisonville, KY (WFIE/Gray News) – Barrett Korinta, a 23-year-old man from Kentucky, has been arrested after allegedly trapping his co-worker in a hot steam-filled room at their factory job.

According to Madisonville police, the incident occurred on Wednesday when the victim and Korinta were working in the factory’s “rack washroom,” which is equipped to spray 200-degree steam and chemicals on trays. The victim stated that Korinta intentionally locked the door to the room, trapping her inside, and then activated the machine, causing hot steam and chemicals to spray.

Fortunately, the victim managed to turn off the machine using an emergency switch before losing consciousness and collapsing. She was later transported to the hospital with head and face injuries, including a concussion.

Korinta was fired from his job following the incident and was arrested. He now faces charges of wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment.
