In a major narcotics crackdown, joint teams of the District Special Team (DST) and Sadar Police, assisted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jodhpur, raided a house in Kerli village, Adarsh Chawa area, Barmer district late Thursday night. Authorities seized a large quantity of MD (methylenedioxy) psychotropic substances, chemicals, and drug-manufacturing equipment.

Police recovered 39.77 kg of MD drugs and 99.93 kg of liquid chemicals stored in six jerry cans. The raid also uncovered extensive drug-making equipment, including glass vessels, vacuum pumps, suction pipes, digital thermometers, grinders, furnaces, churning machines, plastic tanks, and an electronic weighing scale. Two luxury vehicles were also found at the premises.

District Police Superintendent Narendra Singh Meena stated that the house owner, Bhairaram, son of Hanumanaram Jat, was arrested on the spot, while the alleged mastermind, Motaram, son of Veermaram Jat, escaped. Other associates, including Dinesh Giri of Rawatsar and an unidentified army personnel, also fled the scene.

Officials estimate the seized contraband and equipment to be worth around Rs 85 crore, with the chemicals capable of producing MD drugs valued at nearly Rs 50 crore. The raid followed actionable intelligence received on December 18 regarding an illegal MD drug factory operating at the house.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act and BNS at Sadar Police Station. Police continue efforts to trace the absconding accused and dismantle the wider drug network.
