In a major breakthrough, Odisha Police have arrested Bapi Pani, the alleged mastermind behind a violent home invasion and robbery that took place in Dayanidhipur village near Soro, involving a gang of nine members.
The gang targeted the residence of Rabindra Nayak, where they forcibly entered the house, assaulted and restrained family members, and looted valuables worth over Rs10 lakh and Rs50,000 in cash. In a shocking turn during their escape, they opened fire at neighbors, critically injuring one person.
Balasore Superintendent of Police Raj Prasad confirmed that Bapi Pani was apprehended within 24 hours of the crime. The police recovered gold ornaments, firearms, and a vehicle used in the robbery. Efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining eight suspects.
“This swift arrest is the result of effective coordination and intelligence-based operations. We are confident the rest of the gang will be apprehended soon,” said SP Prasad.
The incident has raised concerns about rising rural crimes and organized gang activity in northern Odisha.
