In a major fraud case, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Avadi City Police arrested two individuals, S. Prakash (40) and P. Loganathan (61), for allegedly cheating a bank manager, R. Hariprasad, of Rs31 lakh during a land transaction.

According to the complaint filed by Hariprasad, a private bank manager from Kolathur, he was looking to purchase land when he approached S. Prakash, a real estate broker from Kolathur. Prakash introduced Hariprasad to P. Loganathan, a man from Puzhal, who claimed to hold the power of attorney for a 1,200 sqft plot of land in Nethaji Nagar, which he said belonged to a woman. Loganathan and Prakash assured Hariprasad that the land was legally available for purchase.
Hariprasad, trusting the claims of the brokers, proceeded with the deal. After verifying the documents, he paid the duo Rs31 lakh and registered the land in his name at the Sub-Registrar office. However, soon after the transaction, Hariprasad realized that he had been cheated, as the property documents were found to be fraudulent and the land did not belong to the woman as claimed.
