In a case of insider theft, the Basaveshwaranagar police have arrested Hitesh (21), a cashier at a private bank, for allegedly stealing 170 grams of gold jewellery valued at Rs16 lakh from his workplace.

Hitesh, a resident of Kamala Nagar, is accused of using the bank’s set of keys to access the manager’s locker and steal the valuables. According to police sources, Hitesh later pawned the stolen jewellery at a local jewellery store.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, leading police to recover the full amount of stolen gold from the pawnshop.

The arrest came after the bank manager noticed the missing jewellery and filed a complaint, prompting swift action by the police. Authorities praised the prompt investigation and successful recovery of the valuables.

Further investigation is ongoing to determine if Hitesh has been involved in other thefts or if any accomplices aided him in pawning the stolen goods.
