Kampala police have arrested two men linked to a major theft at JBK Plaza, where at least 16 shops were broken into, resulting in losses of UGX 33.24 million and USD 26,600.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango, the burglary occurred on October 20, 2025, around 7:30 a.m., targeting businesses including mobile money outlets, forex bureaus, and general merchandise stores.
CCTV footage from shop G-12 identified one suspect, Gahungu Bosco, a security guard at the plaza, acting alongside several accomplices. Following intelligence-led operations, police apprehended two suspects: Bani Joseph, also known as Young, and Bhosa Samuel, alias Sam. Both are currently held at Kampala Central Police Station, facing charges of shopbreaking and theft.
“The suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery,” SSP Onyango said. Investigators conducted a reconstruction at the plaza on November 3, during which the men demonstrated how the crime was planned and executed.
Police continue to search for Gahungu Bosco and five additional accomplices who remain at large. Authorities are urging the public to provide any information that could help capture the remaining suspects.
Investigations are ongoing under CRB reference at Kampala Central Police Station.
