In a significant breakthrough, Uttar Pradesh police have apprehended a Bangladeshi national, Dalim, who was wanted in connection with a theft case in Gonda. The accused, identified as Dalim from Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh, was detained near the railway station, where authorities recovered Rs 20,000 in cash from his possession.
Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal revealed that Dalim had been involved in a robbery at a residence in Awas Vikas Colony, Kotwali Nagar. The accused had used a counterfeit Aadhaar card to falsely claim residency in West Bengal. Investigations later revealed that Dalim had illegally entered India and initially stayed in Howrah before moving on to Kanpur and Gonda.
Dalim had broken into a locked house in Gonda, stealing jewelry and cash, which he later sold in Nepal. After returning to Gonda, he was reportedly planning another robbery before his arrest.
The police filed a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code) and the Foreigners Act, 1946, after his detention. Dalim’s involvement in multiple criminal activities has now been confirmed, and further investigations are underway.
Officials have confirmed that the accused will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.
