In a significant breakthrough in the Chandan Mishra murder case, a joint operation by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Bhojpur Police led to the arrest of three accused after a dramatic early morning encounter on Tuesday.
The operation unfolded at around 5:45 a.m. near a river on the Bihiya-Kateya road under Bihiya police station limits. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team surrounded the suspects believed to be involved in the high-profile murder.
Two of the accused, identified as Balwant Kumar (22) of Liladharpur, Buxar, and Raviranjan Singh (20) of Chakrahi, Bhojpur, sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire. Balwant was shot in the hand and leg, while Raviranjan was hit in the thigh.
The third accused was captured without injuries. Authorities have not yet disclosed his identity.
Following the encounter, the team recovered:
2 pistols
1 country-made Katta
2 magazines
Multiple live cartridges
A large section of the area was cordoned off, with heavy police presence maintaining security post-operation.
The arrests are expected to bring crucial leads in the investigation of Chandan Mishra’s murder, a case that had triggered public outcry and pressure for swift justice.
