Chas police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of India Reserve Battalion jawan Ajay Kumar (28), who was shot dead on October 27 in Gayghat Adarsh Colony.
The accused, Balram Tiwari (25) and Suraj Kumar alias Pappu Kumar (21) from Dhanbad, were apprehended by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday. Investigations revealed that the incident was linked to a personal dispute involving a woman.
According to the FIR lodged by Ajay’s father, Laxmi Narayan Yadav, Balram Tiwari had an ongoing affair with the woman. Recently, another man, Ankit Kumar Mandal, began interacting with her. On October 27, during an altercation, Ajay intervened when Balram was thrashing Ankit. After Ajay slapped Balram to stop the fight, Balram allegedly returned with a country-made pistol and shot him dead.
The police seized the firearm and live ammunition from the accused. Investigations are ongoing to determine if there were any additional conspirators involved in the crime.
