Abdolbasir Shahouzehi, a prominent Baloch cleric from Delgan County, Sistan-Baluchestan Province, was arrested by Iranian security forces on February 9, 2025, after responding to a court summons.

Shahouzehi, 50, is the Friday prayer leader of Chah-Ali village in Delgan County and hails from Zahedan. He appeared voluntarily at the Iranshahr court, but after entering the courthouse, security forces took him into custody and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

As of now, no details about his charges, the reasons for his detention, or his current status have been made available by authorities. His whereabouts and well-being remain unknown despite repeated inquiries.

Shahouzehi’s arrest adds to growing concerns about the treatment of Baloch activists and religious leaders in Iran.
