The mysterious death of Ravi Kumar, a young man from Asundi village in Ballari taluk, has been confirmed as a murder, with police arresting 10 suspects in connection to the crime, officials said on Thursday.
Ballari Superintendent of Police Dr. Shobharani V.J. said the body of Ravi was found on the morning of October 24 near the bypass road on the Ballari–Asundi route. Initially, investigators suspected an accident, as he had sustained severe injuries to his head and forehead. However, complaints from Ravi’s family and further inquiry revealed that old enmity and personal rivalry were likely motives.
A case was registered at P.D. Halli police station, and under the guidance of SP Dr. Shobharani and ASP Naveen Kumar, a special team was formed. The team included DySP Malatesh Koonabevu (Ballari Rural, Siruguppa), CPI L. Rudrappa, PI N. Satish, PSI A. Kalinga, PSI M.G. Thimmareddy, HC Praveen, and other personnel, who carried out an in-depth investigation.
Within two days, the police cracked the case and arrested the suspects: Dodda Honnooraswamy alias Ricky, Shekhar alias Uddehal Shekhar, Dubbu Honnooraswamy, Dodda Erappa, Nagaraj, Auto Ereswamy, Prakash, Surendra, Honnooraswamy alias Agasara Honnooraswamy, and Prasad.
Police seized weapons used in the murder and two motorbikes from the accused. The suspects were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
SP Dr. Shobharani appreciated the swift and efficient investigation conducted by the P.D. Halli police team, which led to the quick resolution of the case.
