Texas man caught transporting cocaine in Lee County semi-truck

A Texas man, Baldomero Alanis Jr., 44, has been found guilty of trafficking 2,000 grams of cocaine in Lee County, Florida.

Alanis was arrested in 2023 for his role in a large-scale drug smuggling operation coordinated between Texas and Mexico, led by the notorious trafficker Juan Manuel Lopez, known as “Pac-Man.”

The Cape Coral Police Department and the State Attorney’s Office Twentieth Judicial Circuit’s Narcotics Enforcement Task Force (NETFORCE) conducted a seven-month investigation using a confidential informant who arranged a transaction for approximately 40 kilograms of cocaine from Lopez.

Officers tracked Lopez from Miami International Airport to a truck stop in North Fort Myers, where Alanis was driving a white semi-truck. Both Lopez and Alanis failed to stop at a stop sign, prompting a traffic stop by Lee County deputies.

K9 units alerted to narcotics, leading to a search of Alanis’s truck, where officers found about 2,000 grams of cocaine. Lopez’s rental car was clear of narcotics.

Alanis was using a fake shipping company as a front, claiming to transport fruit and other commodities to mask his drug trafficking activities, officials said.

Lopez was previously convicted and sentenced to 36 months in prison for his role in the cocaine trafficking ring.

NETFORCE, formed by the State Attorney’s Office, continues its mission to dismantle organized crime, racketeering, and drug trafficking operations across Southwest Florida.
