In a major breakthrough after nearly a decade, Balasore police successfully rescued a minor boy from Delhi, nine years after his father allegedly abducted him in 2016.
The accused, Kamalakanta Mishra, was apprehended in Delhi and brought back to Odisha. The rescued child was handed over to his mother, Sima Satapathy, who had filed a complaint in 2016 alleging domestic violence by her husband.
During ongoing legal proceedings, Kamalakanta fled with their then four-year-old son. Sima approached the court seeking custody, and the court directed police to trace and return the child to her.
After years of investigation, the Cyber Police tracked Kamalakanta to Delhi. A special Balasore police team acted on the lead, rescuing the boy and arresting his father.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eastern Range, Satyajit Naik, said, “A distress warrant and non-bailable warrant had been pending against the accused for nearly a decade. Our team located them in Delhi and brought them back. A long-pending case has now been solved.”
