In a swift action following a brutal attack near Delhi Darwaza, the Gujarat Crime Branch arrested a couple accused of fatally stabbing 34-year-old home guard jawan Kishan Shrimali during a drunken altercation late Monday night.
The accused, identified as Badruddin alias Sabir alias Rafiq Shah (22) of Shah-e-Alam, and his accomplice Neelam Prajapati (25), were nabbed within hours based on CCTV footage and human intelligence.
Kishan Shrimali, who resided in Shahpur and worked in a garment unit alongside his duties as a home guard, was attacked near Javed Seasonal Store at around 10:15 pm. According to police, Shah confronted Shrimali, accusing him of looking at his wife, before verbally abusing him along with Prajapati. The confrontation escalated when Shah stabbed Kishan in the abdomen, causing fatal injuries. Kishan was rushed to Civil Hospital but succumbed during treatment.
Investigations revealed that Shah and Prajapati had a history of criminal collaboration, having first met during a theft about two years ago and frequently committing crimes together. Both were reportedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Initially, Madhavpura police had registered the case as assault and criminal intimidation under the Gujarat Police Act. Following Kishan’s death, they added a murder charge under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Shah has an extensive criminal record with 14 cases across multiple police stations, including charges for armed robbery, theft, and assault. Prajapati faces five cases related to house break-ins and theft. The duo was apprehended in Narol and handed over to Madhavpura police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
