Moroccan kickboxing champion Badr Hari has been arrested following allegations of assault against his ex-wife, who is also the mother of his five children. Dutch media outlets report that Hari remains in custody as an investigation continues into the assault, which was reportedly filed by his ex-wife on Sunday.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the assault complaint was received on Sunday, but details regarding the incident remain unclear. Hari, who is known for his presence on social media, has yet to publicly comment on his arrest. Dutch reports have highlighted Hari’s history of violent behavior, referencing a past incident in 2012 when he assaulted businessman Koen Everink in a skybox at the Amsterdam Arena.

The attack on Everink led to Hari being sentenced to one and a half years in prison, with six months of the sentence suspended. Hari later apologized to Everink, acknowledging the harm his actions caused. “I find it sad to hear what you have to experience. As a sportsman, I understand how much you must suffer as a result,” Hari said, expressing regret for the incident.

In 2017, during an appeal, Hari’s sentence was extended to 24 months, including a 10-month conditional probation period. Despite these legal challenges, Hari has continued his fighting career, making headlines for his high-profile bouts against Dutch Glory champion Rico Verhoeven in 2016 and 2019, both of which he lost.

The investigation into Hari’s latest alleged assault is ongoing, and he remains in custody as authorities work to determine the details surrounding the incident.
