A woman and her lover were arrested in Agra’s Shamshabad area for allegedly murdering her husband after he objected to their relationship, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred Tuesday night and was uncovered Wednesday morning when the body of 34-year-old Bhimsen Singh was found at an under-construction building in Meharmpur village.
The accused were identified as Bhimsen’s wife, Babita Singh (30), and her lover Deepak Singh (23), a brick kiln worker. Following a complaint by Bhimsen’s brother, police registered a case under section 103(1) of the BNS (murder).
A team from Shamshabad police, along with forensic experts, reached the crime scene after being alerted to the body, which bore injury marks.
According to ACP Girish Kumar Singh, acting on a tip-off, the suspects were arrested near the village temple. During questioning, Deepak confessed to being in a relationship with Babita. Bhimsen had discovered the affair, causing frequent fights between him and his wife. On the night of the murder, Deepak lured Bhimsen to drink liquor and killed him while he was intoxicated.
