The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA-1) of Rohtak police arrested three robbers following a brief gunfight near Sunaria bypass late Monday night. The trio was wanted for a daring robbery on July 7, where they looted Rs15 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs16 lakh from a businessman’s residence.

The arrested accused have been identified as Azad (22) and Pushpender (21), both from Rajasthan, and Ayush (19) from Balambha village in Rohtak.

According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar, the CIA team received a tip-off about the suspects’ movement. “Upon spotting the police, the suspects attempted to flee and opened fire. Our team retaliated, and after a brief exchange of bullets, they were arrested. All three suffered leg injuries and are currently being treated at PGIMS, Rohtak,” he said.

The robbery took place at the godown of businessman Ashok Jain in Rohtak. The accused initially posed as customers seeking iron grills. Two of them held Ashok and his helper at gunpoint, while the third forced his wife, Sumita Jain, from their residence above the godown. The robbers took all three hostage and fled with Rs31 lakh in cash and valuables.

Further investigations are ongoing to uncover any other criminal activities linked to the trio.
