Police have arrested two men, Ayush Kumar and Vivek Pathak, for allegedly duping people by promising high returns through stock trading, officials said on Wednesday.
The cyber-crime police station in Manesar received complaints that lakhs of rupees were being defrauded through WhatsApp groups offering lucrative stock market profits. Following an FIR, the accused were arrested from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Rs 25 lakh of the defrauded money was transferred to Vivek Pathak’s bank account. Pathak sold this account to his accomplice Ayush Kumar, who paid him a 2% commission. Ayush, a former private bank manager, later sold the account to another party for a 4% commission.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the scam.
