Ayo Akinpelu, 8 Others Arrested by Amotekun in Osun for Various Crimes
The Osun State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, has arrested nine suspects for crimes ranging from livestock theft and burglary to the rape of minors.
In Ipetu-Ijesa, Oriade LGA, 56-year-old Ayo Akinpelu, a native of Ondo Town, was caught stealing two goats hidden in his Lexus SUV. Alert residents raised the alarm and insisted on searching his vehicle, where the animals were discovered. Akinpelu confessed he had been stealing goats for seven years to prepare pepper soup at his beer parlour in Ondo State.
Amotekun Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, praised the vigilance of residents and reaffirmed the Corps’ dedication to flushing out criminal elements in the state.
In Oluponna, Olaoluwa LGA, two suspects—30-year-old bricklayer Sodiq Adeshina and 25-year-old electrician Kareem Marouf—were arrested for burglary. They allegedly stole electrical cables and appliances worth over ₦450,000 from an uncompleted building.
Three other suspects were nabbed for rape and sexual assault:
Elijah Olawale (26) accused of defiling his stepdaughter in Ijebu-Ijesa.
ThankGod Friday, a labourer in Modakeke, arrested for allegedly raping his employer’s 12-year-old daughter.
Adeleke Sodiq (60) apprehended for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl.
Meanwhile, in Ilesa, Amotekun operatives foiled a burglary attempt at Atakumosa Market, arresting three suspects: Ayo Akanni, Bamiwo Sogo, and Bamiwo Israel. Recovered items included electronics, provisions, and household goods worth millions of naira.
Commander Omoyele urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious activity, assuring that all suspects will be arraigned in court following investigations.
