DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — A 19-year-old Summerville man has been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary at a Dollar General in the Jedburg area, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Ayden Smith faces charges of second-degree violent burglary and possession of burglary tools following a break-in that occurred on June 4.

Deputies responded to the scene and collected evidence, including surveillance footage, as part of their investigation. It was determined that alcohol and tobacco products were stolen during the incident.

The investigation advanced when a citizen came forward with information that helped identify Smith as the suspect. On June 14, Smith reportedly turned himself in to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office voluntarily.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is continuing its inquiry into the case.
