NORTHEAST ANTELOPE VALLEY, Calif. — A 32-year-old Lake Los Angeles man has been arrested in connection with a triple murder that occurred on August 17 in a remote area of Northeast Antelope Valley, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The violent incident unfolded just before 5 p.m. on East Avenue Q near 215th Street East. Deputies responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired and found three victims fatally shot: Juan Arteaga-Diaz, Nazario Ramirez, and Beverly Cassese.
Investigators said the victims were traveling westbound in two vehicles when Axel Trevino, driving eastbound, stopped alongside the SUV carrying Arteaga-Diaz and Ramirez. Trevino reportedly pulled a gun and shot both men multiple times before firing several shots at Cassese’s vehicle.
The female victim, believed to be in her 40s, was declared dead at the scene. The two male victims were also pronounced deceased on-site. Trevino then fled in his 2021 Nissan Altima but was located and arrested the following day.
The motive remains unclear, and authorities are withholding additional details to preserve the integrity of the investigation. Trevino is currently held on $2 million bail, with the case scheduled to be referred to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office.
Officials also noted a potentially related incident approximately 12 miles south in El Mirage, where six people were found shot near a bullet-riddled SUV, believed linked to illegal marijuana disputes.
