ABEOKUTA, Ogun State (WMC) — Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected burglar, Awolesi Precious, for stealing valuables worth over N7 million from the Chilbay Entertainment Lounge located within the Federal University of Agriculture, FUNAAB, in Abeokuta.

Precious was intercepted by officers from Harmony Division during a midnight patrol on Wednesday, January 3, 2025, while transporting a large Firman generator valued at N1.2 million. The suspect, who was caught at approximately 3:00 am, initially claimed to have rented the generator for N12,500 from a sound engineer for an event later that day. However, his story unraveled upon further questioning.

He eventually confessed to stealing the generator from the lounge, where a burglary had previously occurred. Additionally, Precious admitted to stealing other valuables, including four 32-inch televisions, one 50-inch television, assorted wines and liquors worth N6 million, energy drinks, malts, and a microwave oven.

Upon searching his apartment, police found the stolen items, except for the televisions. The investigation into the burglary is still ongoing, and Precious will face charges once the probe is completed.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest and emphasized that the investigation is progressing, with further actions pending.
