Two weeks after 23-year-old television serial editor A Nitish Sarwan was killed in a hit-and-run near Velappanchavadi, Avadi city police have solved the case using technical surveillance and field intelligence.
The incident occurred on December 16 around 11:30 PM, when Sarwan was returning home from work and his bike was crushed by a speeding container lorry.
Police reviewed over 50 CCTV footages from multiple locations to trace the vehicle and its driver. Following the investigation, they arrested C Raja (53), a resident of Mannargudi, and remanded him in judicial custody.
The prompt action by Avadi police highlights the role of CCTV technology and coordinated field efforts in cracking serious traffic-related crimes.
