Autumn Bardisa Arrested for Impersonating Nurse, Treating 4,486 Patients

Florida woman charged with medical fraud and identity theft in hospital scam

by Sophia Bennett

A 29-year-old Florida woman, Autumn Bardisa, was arrested for impersonating a registered nurse at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway, treating 4,486 patients since July 2023 without a medical license.

Bardisa obtained the job by using a former classmate’s nursing license number and falsified documents. She claimed to have passed the licensing exam and provided a license with her first name but a different last name, which she attributed to marriage—though she never provided proof.

The deception was uncovered when Bardisa was up for a promotion in January 2025. Colleagues discovered she only held an expired nursing assistant license, prompting an investigation. She was fired on January 22, 2025, and subsequently arrested.

She faces seven counts each of practicing a healthcare profession without a license and fraudulent use of personal identification. Bardisa is currently held on $70,000 bond.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly called the case “one of the most disturbing” instances of medical fraud, highlighting the serious risks posed to patients.
