MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A Myrtle Beach man accused of threatening to kill a New York journalist and blow up her home has entered a guilty plea in federal court.
Austin Suman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to one count of threatening interstate communications. The charge stems from a series of hate-filled and violent messages he sent to a news reporter who had covered his 2019 arrest involving a gun threat against a roommate.
Suman was taken into custody in November in the Cresswind neighborhood after the threats surfaced. Investigators say he directly targeted the reporter and her family.
His sentencing is scheduled for August 1 at 11 a.m. in the Southern District of New York.
