Austin Renschler Wanted After Skipping Sentencing in Drug Case

Convicted Aurora man missed court after June drug bust

by Sophia Bennett

Grand Island, NE – An arrest warrant is pending for Austin Renschler, a 34-year-old man from Aurora, Nebraska, who failed to appear for sentencing on Tuesday in Hall County District Court.

Renschler was convicted in December of felony theft and possession of a controlled substance after a June drug bust at a motel near Interstate 80 uncovered eight illegal substances, a stolen 2006 GMC Sierra, two Ruger firearms, and various drug paraphernalia. Eight other charges—related to drugs and weapons—were dropped in a plea bargain.

His failure to appear for sentencing now has him facing additional legal consequences, with a warrant expected to be issued for his arrest.

The case also involved two other defendants:

Jeramy Elrod, 47, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison for drug possession and distribution. Nine other charges were dropped as part of a plea deal.

Lacey Randall, 35, received 18 months in prison for felony drug possession and misdemeanor false reporting. Nine charges, including theft and weapons violations, were also dismissed through a plea bargain.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating Renschler.
