Austin Police Arrest Four in North Austin Drug Bust

Guns, crack cocaine, fentanyl seized at apartment complex

AUSTIN, Texas — Four individuals were arrested in a coordinated drug and weapons operation targeting high-crime areas in North Austin, authorities said Friday.

The joint effort by the Austin Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety focused on the area near Thurmond Street and North Lamar Boulevard, where officers observed suspected open-air drug transactions at the Thurmond Heights Apartment Complex.

The suspects taken into custody include:

Neshea Harper, 30, charged with possession of crack cocaine and obstructing highway passage

Chaz Young, 39, charged with delivery of crack cocaine, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and evading detention

Edwin Middleton, 34, charged with possession of crack cocaine and felon in possession of a firearm

Kevin Abraham, 30, arrested on an outstanding aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant

During a search of Harper’s apartment, officers recovered five handguns, about 1.5 ounces of crack cocaine, and 9 grams of a methamphetamine-fentanyl mixture.
