MIDLAND, Texas — Authorities have arrested multiple suspects, including 30-year-old Austin resident Yosbel Alonso Ayala, in connection with a gas pump skimming scheme spanning multiple Texas cities.
According to an arrest affidavit, Ayala allegedly received over $400,000 in payments from various suspects involved in the scheme. The fraudulent activities date back to May 2023 and include incidents reported in cities such as Midland, Odessa, New Braunfels, Houston, Kermit, and Pflugerville.
Ayala is currently the only publicly identified suspect and is held in the Midland County jail. Local news outlet NewsWest 9 is investigating further to identify other individuals linked to the case.
The ongoing investigation highlights concerns about widespread credit card skimming at gas stations across the state.
