TIRANA – Interpol Tirana has successfully extradited Albanian national Auron Hajdini, also known as Auron Hysaj, from Budapest, Hungary, as part of an ongoing international operation targeting fugitives.

The 45-year-old was arrested under Operation “The Wanted”, a coordinated initiative focused on locating and capturing individuals declared internationally wanted. Hajdini had been on the run since being convicted for a violent robbery that occurred in 2013.

According to the Tirana Court of Appeal, Hajdini was sentenced on February 21, 2024, to five years in prison for his role in the crime. He still has 2 years, 11 months, and 16 days of his sentence remaining.

Court records indicate that in 2013, Hajdini and several accomplices assaulted a security guard at an oil well site. During the robbery, they stole a quantity of crude oil, a vehicle, a shotgun, a mobile phone, and official documents.

The extradition was carried out in close cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Hungarian authorities. Officials confirm that the final legal procedures are being completed to transfer Hajdini back to Albania, where he will serve the remainder of his sentence.
