Savannah, GA – Aujawan Hymon, the 20-year-old suspect in the recent Oglethorpe Mall shooting, has been arrested after investigators obtained a social media video linking him to the crime.
WSAV obtained the two-minute video, which shows Hymon at a Richmond Hill residence prior to his arrest at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5. In the video, Hymon is seen pointing a pistol at the camera, flashing wads of cash, and lip-syncing violent rap lyrics. An AR-15-style rifle is also visible behind him in some frames. He appeared to be recently treated, with a hospital wristband and a cast on his left arm.
Surveillance footage from the mall incident shows a suspect in a blue hat and white shirt, armed and fleeing toward the back of the store — consistent with Hymon’s appearance.
At this time, Hymon is charged with illegal possession of a firearm. He is being held without bond and has a prior criminal history involving illegal weapon possession dating back to 2023.
Law enforcement sources confirm Hymon is the first suspect apprehended in the Oglethorpe Mall shooting. Additional suspects are still being sought, and more charges against Hymon may follow as the investigation continues.
