Auburn Woman Arrested for Fatal Shooting of Jovon Prince in Montgomery

Hanna Bentley, 24, charged with murder in Saturday evening incident

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A 24-year-old Auburn woman has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting in Montgomery on Saturday evening.

According to Montgomery Police Department reports, authorities responded to a 911 call at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Locust Street, where they found the victim, Jovon Prince, 45, of Montgomery. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, Prince was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hanna Bentley, identified as the suspect, was arrested on Sunday morning. Although she is listed as a Montgomery resident in police reports, court documents show her address as being in Auburn. She is currently held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility, and as of now, bond information is unavailable.

At this time, police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
