AUBURN, N.Y. — A shoplifting investigation at a local pharmacy led to the arrest of two people on felony and misdemeanor charges.

On Dec. 23, Auburn police arrested William R. Butler, 47, and Lindsey M. Bennett, 43, on outstanding warrants tied to a September 19 incident at Kinney Drugs, 62 Owasco St.

Authorities allege that both suspects used a stolen credit card to purchase merchandise. Butler reportedly bought $110.45 worth of items, while Bennett purchased $262.44 worth of goods, all charged to the stolen card.

Both Butler and Bennett were charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

The pair were processed and transported to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment proceedings.
