Auburn Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

Darrel D. Love, 45, faces charges after cocaine and cash found during stop

AUBURN, NY (WRGB) — A routine traffic stop for an expired inspection led to the arrest of 45-year-old Darrel D. Love of Auburn on felony drug charges early Sunday morning, February 16.

At around 12:12 a.m., Auburn Police officers stopped Love’s vehicle near Perrine Street and Rock Avenue. During the stop, officers noticed Love discard a plastic bag from the passenger-side window. Upon investigating the bag, authorities discovered it contained a substance later identified as cocaine hydrochloride, also known as powder cocaine.

Further inspection revealed that Love was also in possession of a large amount of cash. He was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (B felony), fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (C felony), and an uninspected motor vehicle violation.

Love was processed and later released with an appearance ticket.
