Auburn Football Player DJ Barber Arrested After Traffic Stop in Alabama
An Auburn University freshman linebacker, D’Angelo “DJ” Barber, was arrested Monday morning alongside another man following a traffic stop in Dadeville, Alabama, according to the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department.
Barber, 19, and Marcell Brewster, also 19, both from Birmingham, were pulled over at approximately 9 a.m. on U.S. Highway 280 for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers reportedly developed probable cause to search the vehicle.
The search revealed 2.5 pounds of marijuana, THC vapes, digital scales, marijuana packaging, $1,897 in cash, and a Glock 19 9mm pistol.
Investigators with the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force responded to assist in the investigation.
Barber faces charges of trafficking in marijuana (a Class A felony in Alabama), unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brewster was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were booked into the Tallapoosa County Jail, and authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
An Auburn University spokesperson stated the school is reviewing the incident and will assess the situation further.
