Attorney Tracy Zahl Accused of Attempting to Kidnap Child From Oklahoma Daycare
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — An Oklahoma-licensed attorney, Tracy Zahl, has been arrested after allegedly entering a local daycare center and attempting to lure a toddler out of the facility.
According to court documents, Zahl entered the Westminster Presbyterian Church Child Care Center on July 23 through an unsecured door. She then reportedly walked downstairs to the classroom area and told a 2-year-old child, “Come with me.”
A daycare worker quickly intervened, removed the child, and confronted Zahl, who was then asked to leave the premises. However, authorities say Zahl instead followed another group of children to their classroom before being forced out.
Zahl allegedly told staff she was “sent by God to be with the children.” Oklahoma City Police arrested her shortly after at her home, located less than a mile from the daycare. Authorities confirmed Zahl has no connection to any of the children enrolled at the facility.
She now faces charges of attempted kidnapping, and is being held in Oklahoma County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
Legal expert Ed Blau said, “The fact that a licensed attorney tried to do that is very concerning… We have to assume that that attorney has clients of her own.”
Zahl’s past includes disciplinary action by the Oklahoma Bar Association, which suspended her for one year in 2011 for felony prescription forgery. In 2021, she was also charged with two misdemeanors for allegedly threatening her former employer and coworker.
Police are also reviewing body camera footage from her arrest. The daycare has yet to issue a public comment.
