A tragic accident on Kalawad Road, Rajkot claimed the life of Abhishek Nathani, a 20-year-old engineering student from Marwadi College. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when a BMW driven by 25-year-old Atman Patel rammed into Abhishek while he was riding his scooter.

The crash happened near Crystal Mall around 2am, throwing Abhishek and his scooter several feet and dragging him a few meters. Emergency responders from 108 services declared him dead at the scene.

Rajkot Taluka police arrested Atman Patel immediately. Although he was not reportedly under the influence of alcohol, his medical samples were sent for testing. CCTV footage of the crash has been seized, and authorities are reviewing it to determine the car’s speed with help from the RTO and forensic experts.

The complaint was lodged by Abhishek’s elder brother, Keval Nathani, under BNS Sections 106(1), 281, and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The Nathani family, involved in a local factory business, resides in Arjun Park Society on Kothariya Road, and the father and brother also manage the factory in Shapar-Veraval.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rakesh Desai confirmed that preliminary evidence points to overspeeding as a likely cause of the accident.
