A 38-year-old woman, Rahima Khatun, was arrested by Assam police for allegedly murdering her husband, Saibal Rahman, and burying his body inside their house in Guwahati’s Pandu area. The incident occurred in the Joymoti Nagar locality where the couple lived together.
Saibal Rahman, a scrap dealer, was reportedly killed by his wife on June 26 during a fight between the couple. Rahima initially told acquaintances that her husband had gone to Kerala for work. However, on July 12, Saibal’s brother filed a missing person complaint.
On July 13, Rahima voluntarily came to the Jalukbari police station and confessed to killing her husband. She revealed that Saibal was intoxicated during the argument and died from injuries sustained during the altercation. She then buried his body within the compound of their home.
Police suspect there may be 2-3 more people involved, as they find it unlikely that Rahima acted alone in digging and burying the body. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details and apprehend any accomplices.
This chilling case follows a similar murder in neighboring Meghalaya, where an Indore businessman was allegedly killed during his honeymoon by his wife and her alleged lover.
