by Ananya Mehta

In a recent crackdown on illegal Aadhaar card creation, the Baishnabnagar police station in Assam arrested two individuals for allegedly producing fake Aadhaar cards using a stolen password. The two arrested individuals have been identified as Utpal Mandal, a shopkeeper from Nandalalpur, and Sudipta Mandal, an employee at Utpal’s online service shop located in Bhagwanpur.

The police raided the shop on Sunday night and found around 70 Aadhaar card documents, along with several electronic items, laptops, and fingerprint devices used for creating fraudulent Aadhaar cards. The accused reportedly used the password of an unidentified person to illegally generate Aadhaar cards in exchange for money, without the required authorization.

The arrests were made following a complaint from the victim, and both suspects were produced in the Malda district court on Monday. Police are seeking custody for further investigation into the crime.

This case highlights the growing concern over Aadhaar-related fraud and the need for strict monitoring of online service operations involved in the creation of such critical documents.
