In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Goalpara Police, led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Baguan, seized 14 vials of suspected heroin from the possession of Adom Ali at Ambari, under Baguan Police Station. The authorities have initiated legal action against the accused individuals involved.
This raid follows a similar successful operation conducted on December 26 of the previous year. During this operation, the Goalpara police arrested drug peddler Rafiqul Islam from Mornoi, recovering 1,450 narcotic tablets and Rs 60,710 in cash from his possession. This operation served as a stern warning to individuals involved in the illicit drug trade.
In a related development, Assam Police thwarted an interstate drug smuggling attempt by arresting three individuals, including one from the violence-hit region of Manipur. The consignment, which had originated in Manipur, was intercepted by the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police. The authorities seized 30 packets of heroin, which were found in a vehicle near Boko Police Station in the Kamrup district.
These operations reflect the continued efforts by Assam Police to combat drug trafficking and ensure the safety of communities in the region.
