In a major crackdown on illegal drug activities, Assam Police arrested two individuals and seized a significant quantity of narcotics, including YABA tablets, ganja, and banned intoxicants from two separate operations.
The first operation took place on Friday night at Nakshari Machkhowa Mistry village in Mariani, Jorhat district, led by the Jorhat Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Mariani Circle Police Officer. A drug peddler, Hanif Ali, was arrested during the raid. Authorities recovered approximately 34 grams of drugs, 197 banned intoxicants, and 221 grams of ganja from his residence. Hanif was taken into custody by Mariani Police.
In another operation, Sribhumi police seized 7,600 YABA tablets, highlighting the scale of drug trafficking in the state.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for their “significant efforts to prevent illegal activities” and curb drug trafficking across Assam.
