Lahore Police Officer Arrested for Bribe Demand
In a shocking incident in Lahore, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Waseem, serving in the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Squad (AVLS), has been arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 70,000 from a citizen.
The bribe demand came to light when ASI Waseem mistakenly sent a message intended for the citizen to a senior officer instead. Upon receiving the message, the senior officer acted quickly and ordered Waseem’s immediate arrest.
ASI Waseem was taken into custody, and a case has been filed against him. Authorities have initiated an internal investigation to determine the extent of the misconduct. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Organized Crime Unit stated that there would be zero tolerance for corruption and that strict action would be taken against any officers found guilty of unethical behavior.
This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain integrity within the police force and serves as a warning that corruption will not be tolerated.
