Shocking allegations have emerged against Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amit Padhi of Jagatsinghpur Sadar Police Station, who is accused of mentally and physically abusing his underage wife after reportedly marrying her following a Facebook relationship.
According to sources, the marriage took place a few months ago despite the girl being a minor. The situation deteriorated soon after, with the victim allegedly facing continuous abuse from Padhi and his family.
Disturbed by the repeated mistreatment, the girl’s family filed a formal complaint. In response, the police department suspended ASI Padhi. However, he has since gone into hiding and remains untraceable.
The victim’s mother voiced frustration over the lack of legal progress. “Despite filing a complaint four months ago, there’s been no chargesheet or serious investigation. My daughter was forced into marriage and abused, but we’re still waiting for justice,” she said.
No official statement has been issued by the police, and Padhi remains silent and unreachable.
As the case garners public attention, questions are mounting over the police department’s delay in taking decisive action against one of their own.
