Ashley Nicole Nolan Convicted of Felony Manslaughter in Fatal DUI Crash

Maryland woman faces 22 years for fatal crash killing child, injuring two

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Ashley Nicole Nolan, 28, of Lexington Park, Maryland, has been convicted of felony negligent manslaughter for causing a fatal drunk driving collision that resulted in the death of one minor child and left two others seriously injured. State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling announced the conviction today, revealing that Nolan faces a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison.

Nolan was convicted on the following six offenses:

Grossly negligent manslaughter by motor vehicle (10-year maximum penalty)
Life-threatening injury while driving under the influence (three-year maximum penalty)
Life-threatening injury while driving under the influence (three-year maximum penalty)
Driving under the influence of alcohol, per se, while transporting a minor (two-year maximum penalty)
Driving under the influence of alcohol, per se, while transporting a minor (two-year maximum penalty)
Driving under the influence of alcohol, per se, while transporting a minor (two-year maximum penalty)
Nolan will continue to be held without bond pending her sentencing hearing. Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Michael McGraw prosecuted the case on behalf of the citizens of St. Mary’s County, while Corporal Dale Reppel of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation. The Collision Reconstruction Unit of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the case.

The Honorable Joseph Stanalonis presided over the trial, which concluded with the guilty verdicts. Nolan’s conviction serves as a somber reminder of the devastating consequences of driving under the influence.
