Ashley Kingdon-Reese Arrested on Drug and Child Abuse Charges

Huron healthcare founder faces multiple felony charges

HURON, S.D. — The founder of a Huron-based home healthcare service has been arrested on multiple drug and child abuse charges.

Ashley Kingdon-Reese, Founder and Executive Director of Independent Health Solutions, was taken into custody in Minnehaha County on October 11, 2025, according to court records.

Kingdon-Reese faces over eight charges, including:

Two counts of child abuse

Possession of a controlled substance (Schedule I or II)

Driving under the influence (DUI)

Possession of marijuana

Possession of drug paraphernalia

In addition to her work in healthcare, Kingdon-Reese serves as Government Relations Committee Chair for the South Dakota Nurses Association and previously ran for the Huron City Commission.

She was released on bond, and her next court hearing is scheduled for November 26, 2025, in Minnehaha County Circuit Court.
