Two Arrested in Deadly Robbery That Killed James Littlejohn in Smith County
Smith County, TX — April 2025 — Two suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal robbery that led to the shooting death of 51-year-old James Michael Littlejohn.
The Smith County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 2 a.m. Saturday after a passerby discovered a man lying on the roadside in Flint, Texas. First responders found Littlejohn suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to investigators, Ashley Kate Joiner, 33, was driving the vehicle in which Littlejohn was a front-seat passenger. John Floyd McDaniel, 55, was seated in the back. During the ride, McDaniel allegedly pulled a gun on Littlejohn, demanding his phone and threatening, “Don’t move or I’ll shoot you.”
Authorities say the incident was part of a robbery plot that turned deadly. Both Joiner and McDaniel are now in custody and face charges in connection to the murder and robbery.
The case remains under investigation by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.
