CROWLEY, La. — Two sisters in Crowley have been charged in connection with an attempted homicide following a confrontation that escalated from a fast-food restaurant to a neighborhood shooting.
According to Police Chief Troy Hebert, the incident began on March 31, when Ashley Dugas and Jakayla Jones were involved in a dispute with another woman at a fast-food location in north Crowley.
Later that evening, the situation moved to North Avenue A, where the sisters and the other woman were reportedly in close proximity on opposite sides of the street.
“They might be neighbors or something,” Chief Hebert said. “They were both within that vicinity.”
The sisters allegedly called for the woman to come across the street. As she began walking toward them, another person—reportedly not one of the sisters—opened fire, striking the victim four times. She survived the shooting.
“If you do have a disagreement or something, learn how to act with each other, civilized, not where you are trying to hurt each other,” Chief Hebert said.
Ashley Dugas and Jakayla Jones have both been charged as principals to attempted second-degree homicide. Warrants are pending for additional individuals believed to be involved.
