Ashley Audrianna Wood, 32, of West Salem, has been sentenced to six years in prison for her involvement in a large-scale mail theft, fraud, and forgery scheme that affected over 600 individuals and businesses in Salem and nearby areas.
Polk County Circuit Judge Norm Hill handed down the 72-month sentence following Wood’s guilty pleas to multiple charges, including four counts of Aggravated Identity Theft, one count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree, three counts of Forgery in the First Degree, two counts of Computer Crime, and 26 counts of Mail Theft. Additionally, Wood will serve two years of post-prison supervision after her release.
Wood also admitted guilt in two separate cases involving Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Supplying Contraband. During the investigation, authorities found five ten-gallon bags of stolen mail at Wood’s residence, and efforts are underway to return these items to their rightful owners.
The case was investigated by the Salem Police Department and the United States Postal Service and prosecuted by Polk County Deputy District Attorney Garrett Lewellen.
