ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Jonathon Ryan Roberts, 38, of Asheville, was arrested on April 10 after allegedly discharging a gun outside a West Asheville business. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported, according to the Asheville Police Department.
Officers responded to a shots-fired call near the 300 block of Haywood Road at 1:44 a.m. Upon arrival, Roberts was no longer on the scene, but a shell casing was found in the street. Through investigation, police discovered a physical altercation had occurred inside the business before the gunshot.
After canvassing the area, officers identified and located Roberts at a nearby residence, where he was taken into custody. During the arrest, Roberts was found to be in possession of a loaded Sig Sauer handgun, 32.01 grams of suspected fentanyl, 4.38 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia.
Roberts was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $90,000 secured bond. The charges against him include:
Felony possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises
Felony possession of Schedule II substances (two counts)
Felony possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule II substances (two counts)
Felony trafficking opium or heroin
Discharge of a firearm in city limits
Go armed to the terror of the people
Resisting a public officer
Possession of drug paraphernalia
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
